Generally speaking, many people are unaware that they have tonsil stones. Sometimes they cause no symptoms at all and other times they do. You may experience a ‘dry throat’ feeling or may feel uncomfortable when swallowing.
Perhaps the worst is when tonsil stones produce bad breath. They do not always, but sometimes they do. This makes sense as the stones are a hardened clump of substances that naturally occur in the mouth, including bacteria.
A person can work very hard and utilize the traditional methods of eliminating bad breath. But if the problem is due to tonsil stones, this person may never hit the root of the problem. That is sad.
Sometimes you can see the tonsil stones in your mirror by looking at your tonsils. However, just because you do not see anything does not mean there are none.
There are 4 main ways to get rid of tonsil stones
1. You can simply take a gauze strip and squeeze the tonsils. However, I think you should not do this unless you are under supervision of a trained dental professional.
2. You can ask your dentist to do it for you
3. You can buy a commercially available tonsil stone removal kit
4. My friend used the Hydro Pulse Sinus Irrigator – because it comes with a throat attachment. This throat attachment allowed her to remove the stones. She said that she was surprised out how many came out.
