Whitening Pens + Coupon A-per10

Get started on whiter teeth with these

teeth whitening pens - brush on teeth whitening Get started on whiter teeth with these Whitening Pens.

I like pens better than trays.  You can better target where the whitening chemicals go.  I think it is best to keep those chemicals off of your gum tissue as much as possible.

With the pens, you have more control.  You can lightly ‘paint’ the teeth.

Coupon Code a-per10 is the best to use with this inexpensive teeth whitening kit, it gives you Free Shipping + a free tube of Perio Therapy toothpaste

Why I Like Teeth Whitening Pens More Than Tray Kits

December 30, 2012 by david

Whitening pens are better and safer (in my opinion).

teeth whitening pens - brush on teeth whiteningThe main reason that I like Whitening Pens over Whitening Trays is that  I don’t like the idea of those chemicals sitting against the gum tissue.

With trays, the harsh peroxide sits right up against your gums.     I don’t like that.

With Whitening Pens you have  more control and you can just target the tooth, which is the part you really want to whiten, and leave the gums alone.

For these Whitening Pens which you can see here  :   I suggest using coupon code a-per10  because you will get free shipping and a free tube of perio-therapy toothpaste.

You can find more coupons here.

Home Teeth Whitening Treatment Rights To Be Taken Away In Europe?

August 8, 2011 by david

Is Your Right To Home Teeth Whitening About To Be Taken Away?

I ran across an interesting article in the Irish Times today.   Apparently the European Commission is making a bid to outlaw home teeth whitening products.  This would mean that you would ONLY be allowed to go to a dentist for teeth whitening.   How do you feel about that?

There are dangers to teeth whitening, which I have written about before.  However, similar dangers also exist in office teeth whitening as well.  So, the reasons behind this move by the European Commission are in question.

Here is part of the article from the Irish Times:

“The Irish Dental Association (IDA) has called on Minister for Health James Reilly to support European Commission plans to regulate the use of hydrogen peroxide, the chemical used in tooth whitening.

Under the new regulations, which should come into force next month, only fully qualified dentists will be allowed to provide this service.

The IDA expressed concern about tooth whitening products, saying many of them range from “useless to dangerous”.

Dublin-based dentist Tom Feeney, IDA representative on the Council of European Dentists, said regulation of the sector was long overdue.

He said some teeth whitening products available on the internet contain very high levels of hydrogen peroxide and these could be lethal in the wrong hands. Other products contain very low levels of hydrogen peroxide and are not effective.”   – Irish Times

Wouldn’t it make more sense to regulate the manufacturers that make the products to make sure that they put the right concentrations of Hydrogen Peroxide in the teeth whitening kits?   Why would you make it illegal unless administered by a dentist?  There is more to this story than what is on the surface?

This doesn’t really make sense.  The dangers are not really mitigated and in some cases they may be using even higher concentrations of whitening product in the ‘chair’ so to speak.

Something does not quite make sense here.  Who is lobbying for this?  That might be the first place to look for answers.  Are your home teeth whitening rights being threatened by this legislation?  Please comment below.

Fortunately,  you can still home teeth whitening treatments in the US. – For the time being, anyway.

Whitening Teeth Naturally….

June 27, 2010 by david

Be forewarned that truly ‘natural methods’ of whitening teeth may not fully yield the results that you are looking for.

Yet, I congratulate you because I do not necessarily find the bleached out teeth look to be my favorite. Although it is very popular.

Most of the teeth whitening products out there may also help to weaken your tooth enamel and can in some cases kill a tooth. This happens because the chemicals can penetrate through the enamel and get to the pulp.

As we age, the pulp becomes smaller and the tooth more solid. The younger the tooth, the more danger is presented to it by bleaching agents.

Of course, there are veneers but such appliances require maintenance over time and if not fitted properly can cause other harmful effects including possible gum recession.

Fluoride can help to whiten teeth by smoothing out the enamel and thereby making it harder for plaque to form. However, I personally get either a headache or a shooting pain down one of my arms almost every time I attempt to utilize a fluoride mouth rinse. As a result, I cannot steer others in the direction of fluoride for teeth whitening. All though it can work. If you don’t mind using fluoride, then you can check out Zellies teeth whitening plan.

Plaquing and staining go hand-in-hand and stains are usually accumulated plaque. Reducing plaque is very important. One clinically proven way to reduce plaque build up between office visits is to use an oral irrigator.

However, I can’t claim that is going to make your as white as you want. But it should help with reducing plaque buildup.

What you eat can make a difference too. Eating vegetables and salads, including celery can have a naturally cleaning effect on your teeth.

On the other hand, drinking lots of coffee, tea, red wine, and colas are going to accelerate the staining and darkening of your teeth.

Plaquing has a major influence on your development of gum disease, gingivitis and bleeding gums. Of course, if you have them, you should be under the care of a periodontist. And it would be helpful to you to read the book: What You Should Know about Gum Disease.

I would definitely verify that my gums were healthy before doing any kind of commercial or over-the-counter teeth whitening.

Some people turn to baking soda as a natural tooth whitener. Actually, it is simply an abrasive. And it can be harmful to your gum tissue as well – leading to recession. In fact, one dentist friend of mine stated that out of 30 years of clinical experience, she has personally noticed that anytime a patient has a case of unexplained gum recession they have either been using hydrogen peroxide and / or baking soda.

I tell you this because it is not a piece of information that you can get just anywhere. No one really talks about this.

Keeping your teeth clean is probably going to be your biggest aid to maintaining some degree of whiteness. However: time, food, drinks and other factors all conspire against us.

This leads many to turn to the commercial or over-the-counter methods. Again, it is my opinion and I’m sure there are others who will agree that these things can be harmful to both your teeth and your gums.

Bleaching agents and trays that keep chemicals in contact with your teeth and gum tissue for long periods of time may not be the best thing for the health of either.

Therefore, if you end up searching for a commercial product, you are really looking for the lesser of all evils.

I do understand the need and desire for teeth whitening. Although, I am pretty much opposed, in principle and in general, to teeth whitening.

If you have to, you may be wondering what is the ‘lesser of all evils’. There are a handful of whitening products that you simply apply with a brush to your teeth. These products do not require trays and keeping chemicals against your teeth and gums for long periods of time.

There are two that I cam share that meet this requirement, and they are actually made by the same company. They are: Idol White and Kardashian Teeth Whitening.

It would be a good idea to check with your dentist before attempting to change the color of your teeth. – And… we all like to think for ourselves, don’t we? 🙂

PS: Lemons are very acidic in your mouth and aid in plaquing and eroding your dental enamel… Lemons for teeth whitening are a dangerous myth that you should avoid!

Often, but not always, those who want to stop gum disease also
would like to have whiter teeth.

Staining goes hand-in-hand with high plaquing and therefore, those
who have gum disease often want to lighten the color of their teeth
as well.

Of course, having stained teeth does not automatically mean you
have gum disease…

If you have read my book, you are probably familiar with the
fact that I have many dental care stories to tell.

Here is one tip about teeth whitening – please don’t spend a lot of
money on getting your teeth whitened before reading what I wrote
on this topic.

Unless you are a movie star or a rock star, you don’t have to
spend a lot of money…
