Whitening Pens + Coupon A-per10

Get started on whiter teeth with these

teeth whitening pens - brush on teeth whitening Get started on whiter teeth with these Whitening Pens.

I like pens better than trays.  You can better target where the whitening chemicals go.  I think it is best to keep those chemicals off of your gum tissue as much as possible.

With the pens, you have more control.  You can lightly ‘paint’ the teeth.

Coupon Code a-per10 is the best to use with this inexpensive teeth whitening kit, it gives you Free Shipping + a free tube of Perio Therapy toothpaste

Why I Like Teeth Whitening Pens More Than Tray Kits

December 30, 2012 by david

Whitening pens are better and safer (in my opinion).

teeth whitening pens - brush on teeth whiteningThe main reason that I like Whitening Pens over Whitening Trays is that  I don’t like the idea of those chemicals sitting against the gum tissue.

With trays, the harsh peroxide sits right up against your gums.     I don’t like that.

With Whitening Pens you have  more control and you can just target the tooth, which is the part you really want to whiten, and leave the gums alone.

For these Whitening Pens which you can see here  :   I suggest using coupon code a-per10  because you will get free shipping and a free tube of perio-therapy toothpaste.

You can find more coupons here.

Home Teeth Whitening Rights Now Threatened In The United States As Well As Europe

August 9, 2011 by david

Yesterday, I wrote about home teeth whitening rights being threatened in Europe

Today, I will comment on the same thing happening in the United States.  In fact, I was not even aware of the US conflicts over this matter when I wrote yesterday’s post on Europe.

The Question becomes one of balance.  Do dental boards have the right to proclaim that teeth whitening is ‘practicing dentistry without a license’  all of the sudden, when they have not objected in years past?

What is the purpose of this action?   Is it that they suddenly started to be more concerend about the public’s well being than previously?   Or, is there another reason?    And what would that other reason be?

Over at TheWealthyDentist.com, run by Jim Du Molin, a guest blogger named Catherine Hughes writes:

“The North Carolina State Dental Board argues that they never tried to stifle competition and were only trying to protect the public from non-licensed dental treatments.

The battle between dentists and teeth-whitening providers is being fought in other states as well. Recently the Connecticut State Dental Commission ruled that tooth whitening is dentistry and can no longer be performed without a dentist present, while another judge ruled against the New Jersey Dental Association in their legal battle against a chain of tanning salons offering tooth-whitening services.”  —  Excerpt from:   TheWealthyDentist.com

It looks like the battle between the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and State dental boards is on.   If I were cynical, I might suggest that the manufacturers of tooth whitening products have been able to pony up more ‘influence’ then some other organizations.  But, since I am not cynical – I won’t say that.

I guess I am appalled but all of this fuss.   But why should I be?  Have we not seen similar conflicts between businesses and those who represent them throughout history?

I have written about the dangers of teeth whitening before.  I am fairly convinced that the dangers are not greatly minimized by having a ‘professional’ treatment with potentially stronger chemicals in a dentist’s office.  As a corollary,  I am not convinced that  doing so poses any less of a threat than over-the-counter treatments with potentially LESS powerful chemicals.

The death of a tooth can be caused by teeth whitening treatments and that would truly be a shame for any patient or consumer  who experiences it.

The home teeth whitening industry has existed for a long time without these challenges.  Therefore, I am curious as to why the ‘public interest’ card is being played now.  Any thoughts?  Please comment below.

Home Teeth Whitening Treatment Rights To Be Taken Away In Europe?

August 8, 2011 by david

home teeth whitening rights
Is Your Right To Home Teeth Whitening About To Be Taken Away?

I ran across an interesting article in the Irish Times today.   Apparently the European Commission is making a bid to outlaw home teeth whitening products.  This would mean that you would ONLY be allowed to go to a dentist for teeth whitening.   How do you feel about that?

There are dangers to teeth whitening, which I have written about before.  However, similar dangers also exist in office teeth whitening as well.  So, the reasons behind this move by the European Commission are in question.

Here is part of the article from the Irish Times:

“The Irish Dental Association (IDA) has called on Minister for Health James Reilly to support European Commission plans to regulate the use of hydrogen peroxide, the chemical used in tooth whitening.

Under the new regulations, which should come into force next month, only fully qualified dentists will be allowed to provide this service.

The IDA expressed concern about tooth whitening products, saying many of them range from “useless to dangerous”.

Dublin-based dentist Tom Feeney, IDA representative on the Council of European Dentists, said regulation of the sector was long overdue.

He said some teeth whitening products available on the internet contain very high levels of hydrogen peroxide and these could be lethal in the wrong hands. Other products contain very low levels of hydrogen peroxide and are not effective.”   – Irish Times

Wouldn’t it make more sense to regulate the manufacturers that make the products to make sure that they put the right concentrations of Hydrogen Peroxide in the teeth whitening kits?   Why would you make it illegal unless administered by a dentist?  There is more to this story than what is on the surface?

This doesn’t really make sense.  The dangers are not really mitigated and in some cases they may be using even higher concentrations of whitening product in the ‘chair’ so to speak.

Something does not quite make sense here.  Who is lobbying for this?  That might be the first place to look for answers.  Are your home teeth whitening rights being threatened by this legislation?  Please comment below.

Fortunately,  you can still home teeth whitening treatments in the US. – For the time being, anyway.

I hope that you find the teeth whitening coupons to be valuable. Feel free to pass them along to others.

Note: I am fundamentally against teeth whitening, even though I know that some people really feel they need it.

Before you proceed further, may I suggest looking at this post on the dangers of teeth whitening.

Making decisions that take into account the pros and cons is always a wise choice in my opinion.

Whichever coupon you choose, you can feel good about saving from the normal cost of obtaining such a powerful teeth whitening system.

Having whiter teeth is something that most people, particularly in America, like. In many other countries and regions the need for whiter teeth is not as prominent, except perhaps among celebrities.

In America, it does appear to be a pursuit. Especially among young women, they love to have a bright white smile that is dazzling to look at. This provides an obvious social advantage.

Many wish to have every last possible advantage in their social environment and some feel whiter teeth does provide that edge – though it is seldom spoken about.

Many seek varying degrees of teeth whitening. If you seek the most drastic change, you may want to find a cosmetic dentist who has the most powerful (and expensive) teeth whitening products available.

Obviously, this is a different route than home teeth whitening treatments that you administer yourself at home. Typically, these contain tooth whitening gel with some sort of peroxide, much like the kit noted at the beginning of this article.

If you find that you have tooth sensitivity after your whitening treatments, you may need to take steps to strengthen your tooth enamel. A study done in Israel back in the 90s at a dental school showed that eating hard cheese did have an effect on remineralizing tooth enamel.

You can also help your enamel by avoiding acidic (and staining) beverages such as tea, coffee and red wine.

Once you do whiten your teeth you will want to protect that whiteness, Be aware that berries, particularly blueberries, have a strong tooth staining effect. It is always best to rinse and brush your teeth after any meal or snack according to directions that you can obtain from any dentists or dental hygienist.

Teeth Whitening Tips and Coupon

July 24, 2010 by david

Teeth Whitening Tips and CouponI have written about the dangers of teeth whitening before.   On the other hand, many people are interested in teeth whitening.

Therefore there has to be some kind of balance between that need and the need to understand the dangers.  This is about awareness.

This article speaks in general.  For specific questions about your own dental health be sure to consult with your doctor.

Not all teeth whitening is equal. There are many things to consider when thinking about whitening your teeth.

You have to decide between a home treatment or a professional dental treatment. There are pros and cons to each.

Professional treatments are often expensive and they could be riskier for your personal health. Hopefully, being under the care of a dentist will minimize the risk. But you have to be cautious.

Powerful bleaching agents (including those used with lasers) could harm your teeth. This includes damage to the enamel. The least of which could just manifest as simple sensitivity.

The more advanced problems could involve damage to the pulp which could cause teeth to die. If this were to happen, you could be facing a root canal and a crown. When teeth die, they eventually turn brown.

One dentist blamed teeth whitening for a mouth full of root canals!

This is not to say that home bleaching treatments are 100% safe either. There are dangers there too. However, the chemicals involved should generally be less powerful than the office variety.

These things are not being said to scare you. They are being said to let you know that everything is not always rosy- as with most things in life. There are many sites out there promoting whitening treatments and they only tell you about the glamorous side and they fail to mention the possibility of what could happen!

They may sell more of their products that way, but is it really fair to the person interested in teeth whitening? This is one reason why I think it is only fair to let you know the truth.

Generally, the danger is greater to younger teeth. When a person gets older, the size of the pulp shrinks and the tooth actually becomes harder. This means that it is harder for the dangerous chemicals to penetrate to and reach the pulp.

In a younger tooth, it is much easier. The pulp is larger and occupies more space ‘inside’ the tooth. We are not discussing ‘baby teeth’ versus ‘adult teeth’. We are only talking about adult teeth here. There is absolutely no ethical or moral reason to bleach baby teeth!

Not all is bad though. Many people do use whitening agents without incident. In fact, it may be less likely with over the counter teeth whitening products than harsher office treatments. In either case, make your decision wisely.

Traditional “in home” teeth whitening involves trays and after making a soft mold of your teeth you create the tray from heating the material. However, again, you are placing chemicals in contact with your teeth and gums. On the other hand, these home treatments are often not ‘as aggressive as the in-office treatments you may experience.

Another possibility is a different type of whitening. This is one that is potentially less troublesome. You have much more control over how much of the whitening agent gets on your teeth and gums. This is by use of tooth whitening pen.

Certainly, there is a desire for whiter looking teeth and that is perfectly understandable. Now that you have some new understandings about tooth whitening, you can make a better informed choice with awareness.

If you still wish to use the traditional, in home teeth whitening trays, click here and you can utilize this coupon code: a-per10 – this coupon will give you free shipping in the US and a free tube of Perio Therapy toothpaste ($14) value.

Teeth Whitening Review

June 23, 2010 by david

Teeth Whitening Offer

This review is about the secret behind a particular tooth whitener and how they keep them white and how you can too!  Pay close attention for some teeth whitening tips ahead.

But first, let me explain why this  product called Idol White is a little bit safer than other methods of whitening teeth or bleaching.

If you are excited about finding a safer method, this may be what you are looking for.

First, the bad news and then the good news !

The Bad News

Our teeth are fairly sensitive to teeth whitening chemicals and the traditional methods of peroxide or even peroxide and lasers that stay in contact with your teeth and gums for long periods of time might not be the best way to go.

As one dentist I read put it, traditional teeth whitening could be responsible for a mouth full of root canals. The outer layer of your teeth are what you are trying to whiten. But when the chemicals of traditional methods penetrate to the pulp, which they can do, the pulp can be damaged or even killed.

The dangers are greater the younger the tooth is because the pulp (the living part of the tooth) occupies a larger space inside the tooth and is easier to reach. As teeth age, the pulp becomes smaller and the tooth becomes more ‘solid’.

You can probably imagine how this could be bad for your teeth when bleaching agents are in contact for long periods of time as in the traditional tray and even ‘laser’ methods. If they penetrate to the pulp….

The Good News

This ooth whitening method may be better for you because it does NOT involve the use of trays or harsh bleaching agents that spend a lot of time in contact with the surface of the teeth and gums.

Their method involves gently brushing on the whitening agent. This puts you in full control of how much and where the agent goes and you end up having more control over your gum tissue exposure to the chemicals.

This is a better situation.  Learn more about this offer now…

Teeth, gums and dental care have a special interest for me. This is why I wrote the book: What You Should Know about Gum Disease.

It is important to understand that dental professionals believe that up to 75% of people have some form of gum disease right now. Could you be one of them? When it is minor, you may not notice many problems. When it progresses to a more serious situation, you may be headed for gum surgery or even lost teeth!

You can learn more about my book by clicking here.

So many people are unaware of this situation. It is a bit sad!
