My Gums Bleed And I Don’t Know Why?

October 19, 2010 by david

What You Should Know about Gum DiseaseIf this is the question you have been asking lately, do not worry because you are definitely not alone.  Many people suffer from the problem of bleeding gums.

Most of the time this will mean that you may have gum disease. However, your doctor should be the one to confirm that and rule out anything else.

Because gum disease is very prevalent, that will be the most likely cause of your problem.  Again, you are not alone.  Perhaps up to 75% of the population suffers from this problem.

However, just becomes a person does not have bleeding gums, they can still suffer from this disease.  Therefore, not having this particular symptom does not mean you are free and clear.

If you are wondering what you can do about this problem, you are also not alone. Most people believe that brushing and flossing alone can solve the problem.  While that may be true for some, it is not true for everyone.  The proof is in the high incidence of gum disease among people today.

The second big issue is that people often do not know they have the problem.  Unfortunately, they are not always made aware of it either.  Eventually, when the problem has become more obvious symptoms, such as receding gums, a person will start to wonder.

Your dentist or hygienist can suggest additional things you can do at home, beyond brushing and flossing.  The key point however, is that only YOU can solve this problem.  This is because you will only see your dental professionals a few times per year.  The fight against gum disease is a daily fight.

If you are going to win the fight against gum disease, you must take action every single day.  Ask any dental professional, they will tell you that what you do at home is most important.
