The bacteria responsible for infecting your gums, can easily find their way into your blood stream. The gum tissue is full of tiny blood vessels.

When you have gum disease, the bacteria have sort of ‘overgrown’ - kind of like weeds in your lawn.

They are so tiny that it is fairly easy for them to find their way into your blood stream.

These bacteria can causes platelets to clump together, and you may have the beginning of clots or arterial plaque buildup leading to possible blockages.

Scary? You bet it is. That’s just the heart, what about the rest of your body?

Keeping the oral cavity (your mouth) clean can help make a difference.
