   Managing Stress

        By David Snapehttp://tobeinformed.com

The Problem

No matter who we are or what we do, stress seems to be unavoidable. Though stress is a part of our lives, we can do a great deal to reduce and alleviate it's affects. There are positive steps we can take to reduce stress and feel more relaxed and at ease.

Memories of Relaxation

Relaxation, relaxation, relaxation - there is nothing like it. Remember the super glow of your last massage?  Remember a long soak in a hot-tub? These are just two of the ways you can reduce your stress levels.

Something to Try - Quick Fix

Here are some more stress-reducing ideas. Try this simple technique:   Find a quiet place, sit down and gently pay attention to your breathing. You can do this  anywhere: Breath in slowly and exhale slowly, let your exhale be roughly twice as long as your inhale.  Example: count to 10 while breathing in and count to 20 while breathing out.  Repeat 4 or more times. That's it, just relax now. Feel that blood pressure move down 20 points.

Meditation

Want to go a little deeper into that peaceful, relaxing and nurturing feeling? Try Meditation. Everyone has heard of the benefits of meditation. Meditation can help you to calm your mind and reduce your stress levels. How peaceful would it feel to still the body and mind?  How nice would it be to carry a relaxed but conscious feeling around all day long? Check out the ultimate meditation practice.

Relaxing Power of Music

Sometimes, just leaning back and closing our eyes and listening to some relaxing music in a dimly lit and quiet room can do the trick. Going with the music, and letting it take us to other realms can feel like a mini vacation.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a way to train the body to relax on command. Imagine what it would be like to have that kind of control over the stress in your life.  To brush up on the greatest in biofeedback, check out Biofeedback, Second Edition . It was partially written and edited by the director of the biofeedback program at the Mayo Clinic.

Hypnosis

Train the body to relax or let someone else do that for you. Dr. James Walton is an expert in hypnosis. Try his system: eHypnotapes: Tension Relief
