FileOn Signs Multi-Year Agreement with Norwalk Hospital (CT) to provide Real-time Patient Care Information System
By: Ron Bleiberg

FileOn, a Norwalk Connecticut-based provider of Enterprise Document Management solutions announced today that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Norwalk Hospital to automate its paperwork processes. Under the terms of this agreement, FileOn will implement the FileOn eLibrary Patient Care System to automate patient records routing and access.

Says Ron Bleiberg, Vice President of Products and Services for FileOn; “The FileOn eLibrary will provide the ability to scan, barcode and route paperwork from the time a patient arrives at the admitting desk in the Emergency Department through the time a patient is discharged.”

“The FileOn eLibrary will enable Norwalk Hospital to reduce current costs and at the same time enhance patient care,” says Anowar Shahjahan, FileOn President. “The system will enable Doctors in different areas of the Hospital to simultaneously view and consult on patient information in order to determine the proper treatment. This will speed up the current process of having the paperwork move with the patient at real-time.” Mr. Shahjahan adds, “All patient information at the Emergency Department is scanned, automatically routed into proper folders using FileOn HL7 Service, meta data is attached to scanned documents and files secured in a SAN data repository, in a HIPAA compliant manner.”

The FileOn eLibrary is a scalable WEB-based document management solution. The eLibrary supports both distributed desktop and centralized scanning operations. Documents of all format types can be stored electronically in a user defined file structure for access any time, from anywhere using key word search on both title and content. Features include auto-indexing, OCR, barcode-based document routing, HL7 web service, email integration, PDF splitter, file sharing, collaboration, active directory based security and self-service user administration. The eLibrary is based on XML and .NET architecture.

FileOn, Division of VERTX SYSTEMS, LLC, a premiere Information Logistics Services (ILS) Company provides document imaging, online information access and archiving services to businesses. FileOn’s products and services include its hosted eLibrary solution, PDF Splitter and Merger, FileOn Office2PDF Converter, Popnet Storage Servers, Consulting Services, Scanning Services and an instructional guide on maximizing value in implementing document scanning.

How to Benefit from the Mind-Body Connection   (excerpt)

You are about to gain insight into the mind-body connection. The number of
people who truly understand these principles on our planet are relatively few.
There is an undeniable connection between our minds and bodies, you can learn
to use this fact to your benefit.

Dr. Bernie Siegel, author of "Love, Medicine and Miracles" was once a
distraught cancer surgeon until he began to understand the greater principles
of the mind- body connection. He felt dragged down by the artificial barriers
that existed between patient and doctor, and the helplessness he often felt as
a result of his inability to effectively serve those patients. Eventually, those barriers
were disintegrated by Dr. Siegel's recognition and growing understanding of the
mind-body connection and how it could serve his patients and himself.

Dr. Siegel, or Bernie as he began to have his patients refer to him, had some
startling realizations as a cancer surgeon. He found that there were actually
quite a few people in the world that successfully beat the statistics on cancer
survival. He began to recognize that a patient's ability to defeat something as
serious as cancer had to do with the patient's mind and attitude about their
disease.
