I’m very thankful that I do not rely on others (especially the government) to tell me what is best for me and that I have a brain and can think for myself!

Government websites say things like, “these drugs are for short-term use only” and “should only be used by people with BMI (Body Mass Index)of over 30″.

It does seem that there is some caution being emphasized in using these drugs. There must be a good reason that the government says it is for ‘short-term use only’. That brings me to the major point of this article. When I read the story about the weight loss drugs, I couldn’t help but think how blind we can be as human beings. It seems that we get into a certain mode of thinking and we have trouble getting out.

Complicate that with the notion that big companies are after big profits and it becomes even more understandable that we often get lost in a realm of short-sightedness.

Many of our modern prescription medications are isolated, synthesized and concentrated copies (with slight alterations to make it patentable) of naturally occurring plant chemicals!
