Some Thoughts on ADHD Prescription Drugs and Potential Consequences to Your Child’s Health…

ADHD-prescription-drugs-postYou have probably, at one point or another, stopped to ponder the number of ADHD prescription drugs and their side effects. Of course, the most well known are Adderall and Ritalin. However, there are others too.

The list of side effects that come with any drug, including ADHD drugs can be rather long. Here is a tip: the next time you pick up ANY drug at your local pharmacy, ask the pharmacist to print out a list of side effects for you. You might be VERY surprised! Some of the side effects can even be quite serious.

ADHD drugs usually fall into one of three categories:

1. Long acting stimulant

2. Short or Intermediate acting stimulant

3. Not a Stimulant.

The long acting drugs will include drugs similar to Ritalin LA, Metadate CD, Focalin XR, Daytrana, Concerta, Adderal XR, and Vyvanse. These drugs can affect your child for up twelve hours! As such, they are only taken once-per-day. In the case of Ritalin LA or Adderal XR, they come in a capsule form that you can open and sprinkle onto food. Daytrana is a patch that the child can wear just like a ‘quit smoking’ transdermal.

The short and intermediate drug prescriptions for ADHD include Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine and Dextrostat, as well as Methylin ER.
These drugs are sort of out-of-style as they need to be taken more than once per day. On the other hand, they are not available in generic forms which can be less costly.

Non stimulant ADHD drugs, the most well known being Strattera, are not prescribed as often as the stimulant drugs are. However, in the case of a child who suffers anxiety in conjunction with his ADHD issues, the doctor might prescribe Strattera. Drugs like this may also be an option for children who do not do well with the stimulant drugs.

The side effects for the stimulant drugs can often include headaches, stomach aches, sleeplessness (insomnia), eating disorders, withdrawing socially, vomiting and, with that, nausea. This is not the end of the list, just some highlights! As a parent, you might see the outward signs of the side effects such as your child being dull or even a bit less-responsive or the appearance of being in a trance!

The non-stimulants, like Strattera can have similar side effects too. Allergic reactions can also be a concern. As a parent, you certainly want the best for your child and that is why you both may benefit from considering an all natural alternative remedy.

One of the most alarming suspicions of researchers is the appearance of a greater risk of depression in adulthood for children who were prescribed ADHD prescription drugs. When you consider the side effects along with this long term potential danger, you might conclude that the risk is too great. The good news is that there are alternative remedies available that do not appear to have these side effects.

To recap, ADHD prescription drugs have a number of possible side effects. You, as a parent, definitely want your child to have a happy, successful and fulfilling life but you also want to deal with the symptoms of ADHD at the same time. Homeopathic remedies could offer a viable alternative. If ADHD can be treated safely with a more natural remedy, you might conclude that to be a better alternative than prescription drugs.

However, there are times when prescription drugs are necessary, you will have to balance rationality with your own personal research!

Scott Starsky has learned about ADHD natural remedy alternatives and thinks that you should too!

Baking Soda for Acid Reflux…

Even if you look on the box of Arm & Hammer baking soda, you will find that it says something about using a very small amount of baking soda in water and drinking the water, it can have an antacid effect.

Which is pretty cool. For other home remedies, visit the site for herbal remedies.

Therabreath – Are They Worth It?

Therabreath – Are They Worth It?

Therabreath Coupon Codes

therabreath coupon Therabreath Are They Worth It?

This is a review of the Therabreath product line. I have personally used them and find them to be quite good.

The premise of the products is their potent oxygenated compounds. Oxygenated compounds have the power to eliminate the bacteria that cause bad breath, gum disease and other problems.

Many of the therabreath products come in various forms such as mouthwash, gum and toothpaste. I’ve used the Perio-Therapy mouthwash and toothpastes as well as the AktivOxigen Serum. Specifically, I like to put the AktivOxigen drops into my hydrofloss (an oral irrigator) before irrigating my teeth and gums.

This practice seems to have been very beneficial. This is, of course, a subjective observation, but still real to me.

There are multiple ways to utilize the therabreath products. Doctor Katz has researched bad breath and even has demonstrated on stage the power of his oxygenated mouthwashes. For example, he bit into an onion and tested his breath using a halimeter ( a device for dtermining the level of bad breath you have). This of course, prompted a very high reading on the halimeter.

Upon using his mouthwash on himself, he showed how the reading on the halimeter was drastically reduced when he retested his own breath.

You see, when it comes to bad breath, the bacteria that cause us problems do so because they release ‘volatile sulfur compounds’. These sulfur containing chemicals are the cause of our bad breath. Reduce them or eliminate them and you may be able to kiss bad breath goodbye.

When it comes to gum disease or gingivitis, the problem is the anaerobic bacteria that secrete toxins onto and around our gums. When these bacteria are exposed to oxygen, they tend to die or stop reproducing. Either way is a win for you.

Gum Disease Treatment – What You Should Really Know

Grab Your Free ‘ Stop Gum Disease ‘ Report

Get the book: What You Should Know about Gum Disease Now.

book[1]A gum disease treatment is something that your doctor will do in-office. It may involve minor surgery, the use of lasers or in-office ‘deep cleanings’. However, these in-office treatments by themselves – may not provide the results your are looking for or the problem may recur later.

This is because there is a critical component to gum disease treatments that you should be aware of. Namely, you need to take care of your gums at home. This requires knowledge and daily work. Failure in this area will limit the success of your doctor’s in-office treatment.

You can ask your doctor or any dental professional. The key to improved gum tissue health revolves more fully around what you do at home. Without this work at home on your part, it is very possible that more expensive and possibly painful (during the recovery) treatments will be on the horizon.

The good news is that most people can improve their gum health at home and even avoid expensive treatments through good oral care maintenance at home. The bad news is that like an ostrich with its head buried in the sand, your unprotected end is exposed to whatever may happen next.

Unfortunately, even your doctor and other professionals in the office may not tell you what you can do at home, beyond basic brushing and flossing, to improve your gum health. Some do, but many do not.

This creates a puzzle for patients that many are not even aware of. This puzzle must be solved. Having the right tools and right understanding about combating gum disease is crucial to your success.

At the bottom of this article, you will find links that can greatly enhance the quality of your life and oral health.

Does The Hydro Floss Cut It? Healthy Gums Make Us Smile…

by David Snape

Grab Your Free Report on on Promoting Healthy Gums Now

2SkinnyDaveat40This short essay is based on my experiences with the HydroFloss Oral Irrigator. This is a story about how I found the HydroFloss and why I was looking for it – even though I didn’t know exactly what I was going to find when I was searching for answers. What is written here is said in general.  If you have specific questions about your dental health, be sure to ask your doctor.

A few years back, my dental professional was very concerned about the state of health of my gum tissue. Her hygienist agreed that I needed some specialized attention. They were business like and stern as they explained what was needed.

They further explained that what they wanted to do was referred to as a ‘scaling and root planing’ procedure. It is also called a SRP or ‘deep cleaning’ treatment.

I didn’t like the sound of what I was hearing. It just didn’t sound like it was something that I wanted to go through.

The assistant told me that she would dig down underneath my gums with specially crafted tools that would allow her to get rid of an accumulation of tartar. She would also smooth the surfaces under there to make it harder for it to return.

That didn’t sound too pleasant to me, not even a little bit. She said that I didn’t need to worry about anything because she could use medication to make my gums go numb.

I thought, “Great, you need to make my gums numb. I wonder how much it is going to hurt when the medicine wears off?”

I was then told that If I did not accept this procedure that I should put my signature on a waiver to signify that I understood they were not responsible for what might happen to my teeth. This was another red flag for me.

Being completely frank, I felt like I was being sold a ‘bill of goods’. It just seemed plain silly that they would request the signing of a waiver.

Finally, we came to the part that firmed up my thought process for good. The dentist’s helper explained that she was ready to start that day and that I should replace my normal cleaning with this new procedure.

Her given rationale had to do with insurance. If I got the standard treatment, instead of the special one, insurance might not pay for the advanced procedure later. Therefore, it was perfectly logical to have this done now. I knew that for something like this, I was going to need time to consider it.

I saw or felt one of those big warning signs in my mind that indicated, “Don’t do this!” I said that I did not want the treatment. Apparently, she felt that I didn’t need to sign the waiver after all.

The entire predicament seemed very surreal to me. There had to be another way for my gums to be healthy again.

Afterward, I talked to someone who had this treatment. She did not seem very satisfied with the results.

I started searching. A device called the HydroFloss Oral Irrigator came to my attention. I felt that I should give it a try and I purchased one online.

I was very optimistic when the package showed up on my doorstep. I noted that there should have been a video instruction disk included with my purchase but it just wasn’t there.

I contacted the company and asked for it. It was promptly sent. I was exuberant after watching the information and directions.

I just knew there was a good chance this was at least part of the answer I was looking for. Because of that, I had no problem working with it more than a couple of times each day.

About five months after that, it was time to see the dentist again. What happened next delighted me beyond belief.

The same assistant and doctor took a good look at my gums. Each agreed that there was a vast improvement. In fact, they told me that there was no need for that scaling and root planing now.

You can imagine that I felt really good at that point. I still use my HydroFloss daily, except when traveling.

If your gaze wanders to the resource box below where my information is, you will find a nifty link to a nice coupon code for the HydroFloss oral irrigator. Based on my very own experience, the Hydro Floss has been more than worth the cost to me!
