Can You Inherit Bleeding Gums?

By Dave / December 18, 2007

Question: Dania asked: Can bleeding gums be inherited?

Answer:

Bleeding gums are almost always a sign of gum disease.

You can inherit a susceptibility to having bleeding gums. (gum disease)

But it is still NOT normal to have bleeding gums.

It sounds very much like you have gum disease. You need to get confirmation from a dentist or periodontist.

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in gum health. He is a good choice for your gum health issues.

When is the last time you went to a dentist? If you have been seeing a dentist and they have not said anything about your bleeding gums, you should think about visiting a periodontist right away.

If you have not been going to the dentist, then you should seek a periodontist anyway.

I believe that it is important to understand that if you have any bleeding while brushing, flossing or any other activity, it is NOT normal. You have a problem that needs attention right away.

I’m sure that you want to keep your teeth. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults.

Please don’t let your condition get any worse than it is now. Go see a dentist or periodontist as soon as possible.
