Amalgams Revisited

By Dave / October 31, 2007

One of the readers of this site has sent me a few more links on amalgams (mercury fillings that you get at the dentists office).

I’m not ready to pass complete judgment on this stuff, but as I mentioned before it is better to err on the side of caution. Though hard to find, there are dentists out there that will use composite material to fill a cavity.

However, these composites may also lead to problems. Arrrgh – the only alternative seems to be not to get a cavity.

Anyway, you might prefer the composite variety, especially after reading more about amalgams:

Maine Requires disclosure on mercury fillings:

Are Dental Amalgams Safe (this is a very interesting read)

Is it possible that mercury poisoning and autism are related?

One of the premises here is that babies get their first exposure to mercury through mothers’ milk. – Really, that isn’t so hard to believe. I mean it does make a bit of sense.

Note: before you panic, you need to read extensively and make up your own mind about this debate over amalgams that has been raging for over 150 years now.

Here is where you can find a list of Holistic dentists that don’t use mercury in their fillings.

(Thanks to an anonymous reader for providing the link to this list.)

Feel free to comment below.

Remember if you have or think you might have any dental or health problems visit a dentist or doctor for advice, diagnosis and treatment. The FDA has not evaluated any statements on this site as far as I know.
