Doxycycline is an antibiotic and may also be prescribed to prevent malaria. It can have side effects and may put an additional tax on your kidneys and liver.
If you have any of the following side effects, contact your doctor right away:
difficulty breathing or swallowing
redness of the skin (sunburn)
severe headache
blurred vision
yellowing of the skin or eyes
light-colored bowel movements
loss of appetite
upset stomach
dark-colored urine
itching
hives
skin rash
confusion
extreme tiredness or weakness
decreased urination
stomach pain
vomiting
diarrhea
itching of the rectum or vagina
sore mouth
Scary, isn’t it? The pharmacist especially warned me about being sensitive to the sun. I wore a lot of sunscreen when I went out. I experienced an upset stomach and tiredness. Other than that, I didn’t notice other side effects.
